I had the pleasure of photographing a Fresh 48 for my brother in law and sister in law, and their newest bundle of joy, Alston! My little family made the 5hour trek up to their home (well hospital first) in Waterloo, Iowa where we got to spend time with them and other family members in addition to capturing his first days.
Alston was my first Fresh 48 session and I was so excited to do it! Nothing like trying out a new type of session, and getting your feet wet with a different experience with family as your clients. We went to the hospital on their last day, right before they were discharged to go home. So we didn't have to battle with other visitors, constant nurses doing checks, etc.
After capturing a few moments at the hospital, my husband, daughter, and I left and met them at their home with other family members who were in town. Later that weekend, we also took a few newborn shots at their home. Usually if I do a newborn session, its a lifestyle session at the clients home with a mix of candids and posed shots that are meaningful in some way to the parents, whether the baby be posed with special props, etc. Since we did a Fresh 48, the newborn session was mainly posed shots with meaningful props and ideas portrayed. He wasn't too into the photo session at home, so we just got what we could.
Baby Alston's nursery is Red, White, and Blue themed so we chose an American flag for a few shots. My brother in law also works for John Deere, so since we had a few shots with John Deere items for my nieces' newborn photos, we wanted to try and get one for this little boy too.
For only being a few days old, he did just fine and we were able to capture some sweet moments of this little boy. Enjoy these shots from his session and join me in saying "Welcome to the World Baby Alston!"
