My Niece had her First Communion and not only did I get to go because she's my niece but I am also her Godmother. Lucky for her(and her mom/my sister) I am also a photographer! So of course my sister asked for me to bring some of my gear and get some shots of this sweet girl on her special day while at the church.
I wasn't just battling the usual lighting issues that most natural light photographers have, but I was also dealing with tons and tons of other Catholic families trying to get photos of their child on their special day. Whether we were inside the church, in the lobby, or outside the church, people were everywhere! So trying to get a decent backdrop, with good light, and no extra people lurking in the background wasn't the easiest. But we managed to get some in that I feel captured her on her special day.
My niece is probably the sweetest girl I've ever met and has such a sensitive, caring, old soul. She already has such a special relationship with God and her faith, I just loved being able to witness her receive communion for the first time. And being able to get a few shots of her in her glory was the icing on the cake for me!
